Shurhozelie re-elected NPF president


Kohima, November 22: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) today constituted a “old wine in a new bottle” central office bearers led by Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu as President for a record time.
The decision, according to Party secretary general, KG Kenye is to save the party from the current situation. Dr Shurhozelie will be aided by two working presidents, Dr Huskha Yepthomi and Apong Pongener and dozens of vice president, general secretaries and secretaries.
MLA, Vikheho Swu administered oath to the office bearers for the tenure 2020-24.
Earlier secretary general, Kenye presented secretarial report and urged the party workers to remain loyal and strengthen the party for the sake of the Naga people.
The NPF in its six point resolution appreciated the Union Government and Interlocutor R N Ravi and Naga negotiating parties for understanding the problems of the longest Naga political struggle in the southeast Asia for honourable and acceptable solution.
“The convention appeals to the Naga negotiating groups, the NSCN(IM) and the 7 NNPGs to come together and bring about early solution”.
The resolution also appealed to neighbouring states to extend positive cooperation in resolving the Naga political issue for mutual respect and peaceful co-existence in the northeast. It also asked Naga people to be more positive towards the settlement of the issue.
“The convention resolved and expressed confidence in the leadership of Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu as president and the leadership of NPF Legislature Wing T R Zeliang,” the resolution added.
Further the resolution appreciated the election board and committed to support the new team. (Page News Service)
