Shubman Gill, Vijay Shankar to replace KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya

MUMBAI, January 13: India cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul will be taking a long flight back home from Sydney on Sunday, buried under a looming threat that they may not get to wear the India cap anytime soon.
“Their tickets are booked. They’re on their way back and will not be part of any cricket till the time this entire enquiry is over,” sources told TOI.
Tamil Nadu allrounder Vijay Shankar will be the lone replacement for the remaining two ODIs in Australia.
In a late-night development, India’s Under-19 World Cup-winning batsman Shubman Gill was fast-tracked to the senior team and will be joining Virat Kohli & Co. on the tour of New Zealand.
Bangalore batsman Mayank Agarwal, who made his Test debut at Melbourne recently, was earlier scheduled to travel alongside Shankar but is still down with an injury. Shankar and Gill will be with the team till the end of the New Zealand tour.
The Committee of Administrators (CoA) Vinod Rai and BCCI CEO Rahul Johri on Saturday, CoA member Diana Edulji said.
“We should be in no hurry to conduct the inquiry” because then it will appear like a “cover-up job”. (PTI)
