Dimapur, July 13: Two members of NSCN (IM) Steering Committee, Vaison Vemai and VS Jonah Vemai, have left the group to join GPRN/NSCN.
A press release from MIP, GPRN/NSCN on Tuesday stated that the Collective Leadership and all rank and file of GPRN/NSCN warmly welcomed the two senior leaders.
Vaison Vemai is also the former Speaker of the Tatar Hoho, former Religious Kilonser and former Vice President, Council of Nagalim Churches (CNC); while VS Jonah Vemai has “served the Naga nation for thirty seven years”, it added.
Both the leaders met GPRN/NSCN Chairman and President Gen. (Retd.) MB Neokpao Konyak at Designated Camp, Khehoi on Tuesday, it informed.
“Also, meeting with old comrades and friends at the Tatar Hall at CHQ, Khehoi D/Camp, the two senior leaders said that Naga people should unite and work for the uplift of our nation. It is a people’s movement and therefore they were convinced that GPRN/NSCN, as one among seven NNPGs holding political negotiations with the Government of India, is progressing according to the wishes of the Naga people. The Naga tribes and civil societies, in general, have acknowledged that the Working Committee and GoI signing Agreed Position on 17th Nov. 2017, is practical and realistic. Wherein ‘…GoI recognises the political and historical rights of the Nagas to self determine their future in consonance with their distinct identity…’ this, they said was closer to Naga political and historical truth that Nagas are one,” read the press release.
According to them, the decision to join GPRN/NSCN was made easier since the Agreed Position and blueprint of impending Indo-Naga political solution, on closer look, is very much inclusive of all Naga areas with adequate scope for future Naga generations to pursue unresolved matters, it stated.
