Kohima, September 11: A selection trial of Nagaland team for the 40th Senior National Archery Championship was held at Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima on Saturday.
Altogether 19 archers took part in the trials. Two international archers archers, Kilenmeren and Kevikieno Rikha, also took part in the trials.
Olympian and Arjuna awardee Chekrovolu Swuro, who was also present on the occasion, encouraged the State archers to give their best in their attempts in order to prepare well for the Paris Olympic 2024.
Adding that Nagas got the skills and talents to compete in the international level, she expressed her confidence that archers can do much better and win an Olympic medal with the support of the Nagas and the state government.
The selected archers in recurve division for men were Keneisao, Teisovi Lohe, Kilenmeren, Mhathung
While for recurve women division, the list included Kevikieno Rikha, Edikunu Rikha, Ruovinuo Theunuo, Rovine Domeh.
For compound (men) division, the selected archers were Thenuhielie, Vehuyi, Ruyonu, Besuvezo; while for women, the list included Vetavolu, Vetolu, Neikesa Sakhrie.
The selected archers will continue to undergo coaching camp at Kohima and will be moving out on October 2 for the said competition. The coaches will be Besuta Vero, Y Kaiyong, Neisevotuo Terhase, and Hunezo Thisa. (Page News Service)
