
Dimapur, October 3: Opening ceremony of Seithekema Circle Sports Meet-2023 started off with releasing of 36 balloons with great zeal and enthusiasm on October 3 at Sovima Cricket Ground. The sports meet is organised by EAC Seithekema office and 36 villages of Seithekema circle.
Advisor, Urban Development & Municipal Affair, Zhaleo Rio graced the ceremony as special guest. Sr. vice president, NDPP, Charlie Sekhose as chief patron and chairman, Sovima Village council, Sebastian Zumvu as Ceremonial host.
Seithekema circle sports meet is being held from October 3 to 14 with 28 villages participating out of 36 villages and will compete in two different sports discipline- Football and volleyball.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Zhaleo expressed happiness to be gracing the opening ceremony and thanked the organiser, host village, EAC Seithekema office, village Council chairmans, GBs, leaders and youth for taking such an initiative in organising a sports meet under Seithekema circle. He specially thanked the Seithekema EAC office who not only focused on law and order but also took interest in sports fields and activities of the youth and held such sports meet.
He stated that Seithekema circle is a home to not only one tribe but a mixture of many Naga tribe and organising such sports meet is a step forward to know each other and make friendship.
He reminded the participants that there should be no such as participants, team members or tribalism but one circle one district as a family and request the youth to maintain a good discipline, sports spirit and go back with fond memories during a weeklong sports meet.
He mentioned that this sports meet is a great opportunity to showcase their talents and skills, and also give one opportunity to have boarder view of the world and life. He appealed the leaders and youths of their respective villages to identify the talent, assist them and paved the way for the talented youths. He stated that, unlike the past, the Government of the day has paved a way for the sportsperson with policy and schemes, academy and training centres, fir where the sports person should avail this opportunity.
Further encouraged the youths to follow the footstep of our legendary Dr. T. Ao by been focus and committed to the field they have interest, as to become a good sportsmanship one need to maintain discipline, commitment and courage to achieve great heights.In conclusion, he wish all the participants, organisers, the host village a successful week long sports meet.
The programme commenced with an innovcation by Pastor & president, WSBAK Church leaders fellowship, Rev. Dr Khetoshe Aye. Followed by marching in by the 28 contingents and oath taking. Further, greetings by Ceremonial host and welcome address by EAC, Seithekema, Er. Seyekhrietuo Solo. Special number presented with Moko Kozo.
The programme concluded with lighting of torch by the Special Guest and esteemed dignitaries.
