Scholarship issue: ENCSU seeks Governor’s intervention

Dimapur, January 18: The Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) has sought the intervention of Governor of Nagaland in the matter of SIT Report by the State Government and the Department of Higher Education on the issue of students’ scholarship fund allegedly misused by the Department of Higher Education.
The ENCSU also appealed to the Governor to initiate CBI investigation into the matter.
In a press release, ENCSU president M. Longre Chang and general secretary WanGnei C Jessuhu stated that the union is not satisfied with SIT Report.
The ENCSU asked the state Government to make the SIT report public and questioned the Government as to why it was trying to save those involved in the misuse of scholarship money despite setting up of SIT to catch the errant officials.
The ENCSU also wanted to know as to why the Government cannot come up with clear SIT report after the Government themselves had admitted during a cabinet meeting that the PMS fund has been misused by the Department.
The ENCSU reiterated that it would not compromise or sit silent even if the Government fails to deliver justice.
The ENCSU warned the state Government that in the event of failure to meet the demands of students, the ENCSUis ready to initiate its own course of action.
The union demanded the Government and the Department of Higher Education to come up with solution to its own creation problem immediately and asked not to take advantage of the patience shown by thousand of Naga students.
It also warned that it would resume its agitation which was kept in abeyance on December 7 after an assurance from the Government.
The ENCSU requested all the Eastern students in particular and the Naga in general to stay prepare mentally and physically to fight for justice and right as it may announce any time for final movement against the non- release of full scholarship and the SIT report. (Page News Service)
