Sazo questions Centre’s silence on Naga issue

K BASA, January 8: Senior NPF legislator, Dr Chotisuh Sazo has accused the BJP-led NDA Government at the Center of playing with the sentiment of the Naga people over resolution of the Indo-Naga political issue.
Addressing the Thevonu Memorial Trophy Tournament at Khulazu Basa (K Basa) under Phek District on Tuesday, Sazo said Naga people had expressed their desire to see the Naga political issue resolved before the general elections in the State last year.
“Even the Naga civil societies had constituted a Core Committee to urge the Government of India to resolve the issue before the general elections. The Core Committee could finally bring all the 11 political parties in the State not to contest in the general elections till the Naga issue was resolved but the BJP walked away from it and decided to go ahead with the elections with the slogan, “Election for Solution,” he was reported as having said by NEPS.
Questioning as to why the BJP-led NDA Government at the Center was remaining silent on what they had declared for resolving the Naga issue, the former Assembly Speaker said the tenure of the BJP-led NDA Government is getting over soon.
Now instead of explaining as to why they were remaining silent on the settlement of the Naga issue, Interlocutor to the Indo-Naga peace talk, RN Ravi had issued a threatening statement saying the Government of India would not hold talk with any other groups. He even warned the groups that “they should surrender or get killed,” Sazo said and termed Ravi’s statement as “unfortunate.”
He also expressed surprise over the complete silence of civil societies’ towards the Center’s “unproductive activities”.
