SAYO opposed to Manipur Sangai Festival at Mt. Tempü & Dzükou valley

Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 12: Taking note of the Mao Council organising Manipur Sangai Festival at Mt. Tempü and Dzükou valley, the Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) asserted that it won’t permit any groups or individuals to trespass traditional boundaries without permission.
“It has been learnt that the Mao Council is organising Manipur Sangai Festival from 15th to 24th November 2022 with various events organising and undertaking tracking at Mt. Tempü and Dzükou valley.
“The Southern Angamis have never objected such eventful festivals celebration at Okhro Ikhro but maintained status quo as the land traditionally belongs to the Mao community though it politically falls under Nagaland State political boundary”, read a statement issued by SAYO on Saturday.
It stated that Kezoltsa, Tempü and Dzukou traditionally belong to the Angami tribe “and basing on the vague interstate political boundaries/demarcation, any organisation or community should not take undue advantages or undermine the traditional stakeholders”.
The organisation warned of strict actions against any groups or individuals trespassing what it called traditional boundaries.
