
DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 12: The Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) has said that unscrupulous elements/agencies are creating unpleasant situation within the Southern Angami traditional jurisdiction by trying to intrude into its territory without the consent of the land owner, SAPO. It said those miscreants have purportedly tried to forcefully and illegally claim lands within SAPO traditional jurisdiction by deliberately violating the age-old traditional agreements.
In a press release issued by its President, Vimezhol Theyo and General Secretary, Mhalie Lüho, the SAPO said it is outrightly against such unlawful acts of aggression and would neither tolerate nor allow any land within SAPO jurisdiction to be encroached upon.
The SAPO appealed to Manipur State Government, agencies or organizations to restrain from such unwarranted and provocative acts of aggression which would only instigate more discord across the boundaries.
It also appealed to Manipur Government to honour the age-old mutual concurrence with regard to traditional boundary practiced by the neighouring villages or communities.
The SAPO further warned against any unlawful activities carried out in its jurisdiction by personnel from any agency, state Government, organization or individuals and would respond befittingly for which, SAPO would not be held responsible for the consequence.
The Organization urged any personnel of state Government, organizations or individuals to acquire permit from both SAPO and Nagaland Government before entering Dzükou or any other areas falling under the traditional jurisdiction of Southern Angami villages other than the existing National Highway, so as to avoid any untoward incident.
It also appealed to all citizens to be wary and prepared for any eventualities to defend its ancestral land from encroachers.
