Samagra Shiksha Nagaland launches 15-day people’s participation event

Kohima, June 1: Samagra Shiksha Nagaland today launched 15-day long Janbhagidari event (People’s Participation) on the theme “One Earth, One Family, One Future” – National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Digital Initiatives in Education, Foundational Literacy & Numeracy.
This program is conducted in the state as a run up event for G20 with focus on scheduled to be held in Pune on June 16.
Speaking at the programme, Advisor for School Education & SCERT, Kekhrielhoulie Yhome said that the participation of teachers and students from four Government schools has set and a becnh mark to work towards the effects of climate change.
He said that climate change is here for real, and everyone should be concerned for the health of the earth.
The ever increasing of heat is resulting in ice melting and changing the atmosphere of the world, he said, while encouraging students to be careful in disposing of their trash to fight against climate change.
Change can happen only when people come together and working collectively, he said.
Commissioner & Secretary School Education & SCERT, Kevileno Angami said that the G20 is building a strong education system and also the digital initiative under the NEP to create awareness on foundational literacy and numeracy so as to ensure a better future.
This programme is about making a people movement to improve Foundational Literacy & Numeracy in Education by involving all the stakeholders, she said.
Deputy Mission Director Smagra Shiksga, Kelhikha Kenye said that the programme will continue till June 15 and with today’s launch different activities will be conducted including literary competitions.
As part of the launching programme, 281 students and teachers from 4 schools, staff of School Education Department participated in plogging to create awareness on responsible disposal of waste with.
He said that they carried plogging from three points – High School Junction, Assembly Gate and TMGHSS and ended with cleaning the Secretariat Park area.
A series of activities will be followed with a tree plantation drive on June 5 at KIsama in collaboration with stakeholders, Kenye said.
