Sam travelled to Australia to perform at Sydney’s Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras over the weekend, and has revealed worries about the deadly virus – which is spreading like wildfire across numerous countries and continants.
Speaking to The Project, the Money On My Mind singer revealed that he’s ‘really scared’.
The star explained: “I literally just texted mum saying, “I’m really scared about the coronavirus. I’m scared.”
Sam added that they were dreading the thoughts of touring across Europe many people have been diagnosed with the sickness.
“I’ve got to go back to Europe and I’m hearing that it is going nuts. I don’t like it.”
Sam touched down in Sydney on Monday, and spoke of their enthusiasm for their upcoming performance on Instagram soon after.
“Sydney. I’m home, and I can’t wait for this weekend.
“I’m a Mardi Gras virgin and I’m ready for my cherry to be popped,” Sam wrote in the caption.
The singer came out as non-binary last year.
Same told fans at the time: “I’ve decided I am changing my pronouns to THEY/THEM after a lifetime of being at war with my gender.
“I’ve decided to embrace myself for who I am, inside and out”.
But the star recently admitted to Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s Beats 1 that they know that fans will never get their gender pronouns right.
Sam said: “What’s hard is people changing their vocabulary; that’s very, very difficult.
“It takes time. Everyone messes up. I’m going to be mis-gendered to the day I die.”
They added: “This is going to take a long, long time for people to not use gender in their vocabulary.”
