RSZ dismayed by Govt neglect of NH-2

Dimapur, September 28: The Rengma Selo Zi (RSZ) has expressed dismay over what it alleged is the negligence of National Highway-2 (erstwhile NH-61) between Tseminyu and Wokha starting from Km 40 to Km 72 by the State Government.
In a statement, RSZ said the long waited widening of the highway began after a gap of 13 years and for the past decades the Government has completely neglected it and Rengma community has been maintaining and repairing the road for the commuters.
RSZ said widening work on NH2 has suddenly stopped for two weeks now since the end of this monsoon (September). “The progress of the work has tremendously slowed down due to the negligence of the Government agencies,” it alleged.
RSZ said the failure of the department to produce proposal to the MORTH has resulted in delay of sanction to affected land owners, which was supposed to be done before the earth cutting began. The earth cutting started in June 2017 by an Arunachal based construction company.
The RSZ also alleged the National Highway Department of making “all delay tactic and shifting blame” instead of clarifying and rectifying its wrong doins resulting in the ongoing work coming to a halt “as the landowners are not willing to allow loose soil to be dumped in their land unless payments are made to construct proper protection wall on the dumping site.”
Stating that it has lost faith and confidence on the department, the RSZ said it would be sending its team to both regional office of MoRTH Guwahati and Delhi next week for detailed report “to make sure that the sacrifice of individuals land and properties for the welfare of common good is not enjoyed and looted by self vested interest.” (Page News Service)
