Dimapur, February 21: More than Rs 84.19 crores have been released to over 1.66 lakhs farmers in Nagaland till date under the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan), which was officially launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 24th February 2019.
PM-Kisan is a farmer’s welfare scheme where the farmers irrespective of landholding are given Rs 6000 per year. The fund is given to farmers by Central Government as income support to meet inputs expenses. The fund is transferred from Ministry of Finance, Government of India, directly in the farmers account in three installments.
According to an official release, number of farmers from Nagaland uploaded till date is 2,53,491 and the number of farmers benefitted under the scheme is 1,66,845. The total amount received by State farmers till date is Rs 84,19,70,000.
Meanwhile the State Government in general and the Agriculture Department in particular has expressed gratitude to the Government of India, especially the Prime Minister, on behalf of the farming community of the State for the benefit rendered to the farmers.
