RPUC backs NTUCT over police recruitment issue

Dimapur, February 20: Rengma Public Union Chumukedima (RPUC) has backed Nagaland Tribal Union Chumukedima Town (NTUCT) over “fake police recruitment” and said it should immediately file a case under Lokayukta.
In a press release, RPUC president, Hillo Kent stated that the Chief Minister’s assurance on the floor of the house to set up a committee to look into the “recruitment training of candidates through backdoor appointment by police department,” is “just an eye wash to the situation.”
The Deputy Chief Minister had told the house on February 14 that the appointments were done by DGP, CMDTs and SPs after fulfilling the criteria laid down by the department.
“The fact is that out of 1200 candidates to undergo training only 208 candidates were selected through interview. Where and how this 1092 candidates name came under the list to undergo training,” the RPUC asked.
Alleging that the top brass of police department are still silent about their handiwork in the fake appointment, even after the Deputy Chief Minister, incharge of home, clearly stated their involvement in the appointment, the RPUC said this practice should stop to give opportunity to Naga brothers and sisters when there are more than 70,000 educated unemployed.
