DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 26: The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has appealed for prompt action from Nagaland Government and the Department of School Education with regards to the issue of proxy teachers raised by Zunheboto Range Students’ Union (ZRSU).
In a press release, the party stated that it was aghast at the prevalence and practice of proxy teaching in almost all the Government-run institutions of the State, “which is one of the most important reasons for the deprivation of ‘quality education’ among the future generation of Nagas”.
It also appealed to the District Education Officer as well as the SDEO of Zunheboto to “stop fiddling around with the future of the young students and to look into the matter at the earliest so as to avoid unnecessary furore”.
According to the party, it was high time that the student communities and organisations stood for what is right with regards to the Nagaland Government educational system and to demand for urgently required changes.
Meanwhile, the ‘Walk to Save Nagaland’ initiated by RPP entered day 6 on Saturday.
Another press release issued by the party stated that the walk, covering a distance of 1200 km, reached Zuketsa village, under Pfutsero Sub-Division, on Saturday.
“The Rising People’s Party team of walkers and support continued their historic journey on day 4 from Sechu Zubza towards Jakhama village, crossing through the heart of Kohima town amidst cheers and praises from the people. The team upon reaching their destination at Jakhama was accorded a warm welcome by the village.
“The team of walkers on day 5 left from Jakhama village to proceed towards Pfutsero, crossing Kidima junction and resting for the night at Kilometre-22 by the roadside. The team screened the upcoming Nagamese movie titled LOSHA: King in the Making, starring Zhokhoi Chuzoh”, it informed.
RPP President, Joel Naga and his officials informed that the team will attend Sunday devotional service at the local church and take rest for the day at the village.
“The team plans to march for Pfutsero on Monday (day 7) and have an interactive session with the leaders and general public of the town. The leaders of the RPP earnestly appeals to the people of Nagaland, to remember the team in their prayers for good health and God’s protection as they continue walking in their quest for a ‘New Nagaland'”, it stated.
