
Dimapur, October 19: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) recovered various contraband items during regular checks and drives conducted at various stations and trains.
RPF personnel recovered 89.45 kg ganja, worth about Rs 8.94 lakh, from October 1 to 13.
On October 13, RPF team of Dimapur, while checking at Dimapur station premises, recovered one unclaimed bag containing 5.7 kg of ganja at platform No. 2.
It was handed over to Customs Department, Dimapur for disposal.
In another incident on October 12, RPF team of Dharmanagar Post, while checking in train No. 05663 DN (Agartala – Silchar) special at Dharamanagar railway station, recovered one unclaimed bag inside a coach. On checking the bag, 3 packets of ganja weighing about 12 kg were found.
Later, the recovered ganja was handed over to OC/GRP/Dharmanagar for further course of action.
On that day, RPF team of Dimapur, while conducting a check at Dimapur station premises, recovered an unclaimed bag containing about 5 kg of ganja at platform No. 2. This also was handed over to Customs Department, Dimapur for disposal.
On October 11, RPF team of RPF Post, Agartala, while escorting the train No. 02501 DN (Tejas Rajdhani Special) from Agartala to Badarpur station, detected 2 unclaimed backpacks containing 15 packets ganja,. The recovered ganja packets were handed over to OC/GRP/Badarpur for disposal.
Moreover, RPF personnel recovered 55.45 kg of ganja in different drives against transportation of contraband goods at different stations and trains during October 1 to 9.
