KOHIMA, JUNE 16: An exclusive virtual tour of Jerusalem’s Via Dolorosa will be streamed at 11:30 a.m. on June 27, according to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
The Via Dolorosa is the processional route in the city of Old Jerusalem which, the Bible says, Jesus walked on his way to crucifixion.
In a tweet, the Chief Minister said: “Happy to announce that @IsraelIndia & TafmaNaga are hosting an exclusive tour of Jerusalem’s Via Dolorosa on June 27. This is a unique and creative venture during these difficult times.”
According to the tweet, the tour will be conducted by Joel Mayer, a guide and an educator from Israel.
Queried about the initiative, TaFMA Advisor, Theja Meru said: “It’s an exclusive ‘virtual tour’ of Jerusalem, initiated by the Embassy of Israel in India and Task Force for Music and Arts, Nagaland.”
Jerusalem’s “Via Dolorosa” or “Route of Suffering” is traditionally considered as the route taken by Jesus on his way to the crucifixion. It is one of the most visited sites by Christians the world over, he said.
Stating that TaFMA is grateful to Reuma Mantzur, Cultural Attaché at Embassy of Israel “and a good friend of Nagaland”, for suggesting and initiating this virtual tour, Meru also said that the relationship between Israel and Nagaland is a “growing partnership”, and many creative initiatives, particularly in music and the Arts, are being discussed with the support of the Embassy of Israel.
The tour will be streamed live on Facebook (@israelinindia and @tafmanagaland) on 27 June at 11:30 a.m.
