Roteh Konyak win Cock Fight 2018 at Kisama

Kohima, December 8: As part of sports entertainment extravaganza, cock fight, an indigenous game, was showcased by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports at the main arena, Kisama on Saturday.
The cock fight is a traditional game played by most of the tribes in Nagaland. The traditional game determines the agility, endurance and smartness of a person. A total of 14 participants from the tribes of Garo, Sangtam, Kachari, Zeliang, Puchury, Chakhesang, Angami, Konyak, Kuki, Ao, Chang, Sumi, Phom and Khiamniungan participated in the game.
After three rounds of the match, six finalists were selected for the final round. Roteh Konyak from the Konyak tribe emerged champion of the Cock Fight 2018, while Seikholet from Kuki tribe and Chinglei from Phom tribe bagged the 2nd and 3rd position respectively. They received cash prizes of Rs 7000, Rs 5000 and Rs 3000 respectively. (Page News Service)
