UKHRUL, MAY 18: Against the backdrop of escalating drug menaces in Ringui village, the Ringui Katamnao Long Imphal (RKLI) on Saturday took out a drug-free mass rally from Imphal to Ringui village in Ukhrul district as part of its drug awareness campaign.
Organized on the theme”Save Our Youths”, the rally was conducted in two parts – one flagged off by Dr. Ng. Ngalengnam, director IGNTU from ISBT Imphal and the other by Ringui headman Atem A Shimray from Ringui Market junction.

Later, the public converged at the local Church Hall where an awareness programme was held as a part of the campaign.
Speaking as resource person, President/Doulos CBO Ukhrul Kahangpam Horam highlighted the prevailing drug scenario and its ill effects in the society.
In his keynote address Campaign Convenor Philemon Ahum, the campaign was held to promote a peaceful and drug-free lifestyle among the residents of the village, especially youngsters.
He also called for blanket ban on use and sell of any sorts of intoxicants in and around the village, while observing that drug menace is largely responsible for all forms of antisocial activities.
The campaign was organised by RKLI in collaboration with Ringui Village Authority, Ringui Baptist Church, Ringui Women Society, Ringui Mayar Ngala Long, Ringui Christian Youth Society, Ringui Fellowship Imphal and Ringui Long Ukhrul. Ringui (Tongou) village is located in western Ukhrul, about 60 km from Imphal capital city. (Page News Service)
