Rio’s son elected NCA president

Dimapur, September 20: Kechangulie Rio, son of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, has been declared elected uncontested as president of Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) for the tenure 2019-20 to 2022-23.
Apart from Kechangulie, all the posts in the NCA were elected uncontested as only one person each filed nominations for the five posts in the NCA, informed Lalthara, Electoral Officer, NCA in a notification.
The NCA office bearers are president – Kechangulie Rio; vice president – Herato Sukhalu; secretary – Hyunilo Anilo Khing, joint secretary – Ahidur Rahman and treasurer – Abe Rups.
Lalthara informed that the procedure and time table for election of office bearers of NCA was notified on September 12, and only 5 nominations were received till September 18, the last date prescribed for filing nominations.
The nominations received for various posts in the NCA were scrutinized on September 19 and all were found validly filed, the notification said.
Lalthara declared all the five candidates as elected contested since there were no nomination other than the five nominations and “since there is only one validly filed nomination for each post.” (Page News Service)
