Rio inspects COVID Hospital Tuensang

Dimapur, May 6: Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio today visited Tuensang and inspected the COVID Hospital Tuensang, along with Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, CM Chang, Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Justice & Law and S Pangnyu Phom, Minister for Health and Family Welfare.
A joint meeting with District Officers, Civil Societies, Church leaders and NGOs was held at DC conference hall Tuensang which was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant.
While appreciating the hard works of stakeholders, Chief Minister Rio updated on the video conferencing with the Central government regarding law and order situation, loopholes and success stories of COVID 19 etc. He congratulated the efforts of the people and Chambers of Commerce Tuensang in materializing the much needed ICU.
“We have seen loopholes in implementation in safeguarding to defending even in developed countries so also we face such problems here,” he said further adding, “We shall try our best to fight against the disease.”
Despite hard works and lock down, COVID cases in the country are increasing, Rio said and asked the Government departments, civil societies, churches and NGO to strive for the safety of the public.
“As aged people are more vulnerable to the virus we shall still continue to take care using the guidelines to contain from infections even though we do not have positive cases till now,” he said.
He also announced on the relaxation of the lockdown and movement of inter district stranded individuals.
Taking advantage of the current scenario and the Nagaland of being a consumer society everyone should work and generate economy by focusing on the agri and allied sector and progressive entrepreneurs, he added. He also highlighted on the recent COVID cess enhancement of the price in fuels to reinforce the medical facilities and equipment making it sustainable for every situation of the state.
The Ministers appreciated the hard work of the entire stakeholder in fighting the current disease. Deputy CM also asked the DC to direct all the villages to relax the strict village gates and allow the stranded people to enter the respective villages.
Minister of Health and Family Welfare responding on the memorandum for the installation of ventilator at District Hospital Tuensang said that presently it is being installed in Kohima and Dimapur and other will follow suit. He also advised the district administration and medical department to check the quality of the incoming consignment and return if the equipment are not up to the mark.
The DC reported on all the preventive activities conducted in respect to COVID 19 where he also highlighted on the total numbers of preventive gears, institutional quarantine centres of the district and on the establishment of the facilitation centres to assist the stranded individuals in the district.
Bharat Laxman Margad SP Tuensang also reported on the activities conducted by the police to contain the COVID 19 in the district. Dr. Moa CMO Tuensang highlighted on the medical activities and preparedness of the medical staffs to fight COVID 19 in the district.
Rio distributed relief to daily wage earners which was arranged by District Disaster Management authority Tuensang. Deputy Chief Minister donated walkie talkie sets to Village Guards of Tuensang, Longleng, Kiphire and Shamator. (Page News Service)
