Rio commits towards welfare of farmers and youths; affirms judicious utilization of LADF cutting across party line

Kohima, April 5: Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio today reiterated the PDA governments commitment towards the welfare of farmers and youths while also asserting that the Local Area Development Fund (LADF) would be judiciously utilized for the development of all the constituencies without any biasness.
Speaking at the Thanksgiving programme organized in his honour by the NDPP 11-Northern Angami-II Assembly Constituency at Chiephobozou ground, under Kohima district today, Rio said his government would work towards improving the productivity and income of farmers by brining in new technologies while also asserting that soil test would be conducted for the suitability of crops.
Maintaining that efforts would be made towards the welfare of educated unemployed youths, he said emphasis would be given on skill-based education for employment generation, and market expansion to promote entrepreneurs.
Rio also affirmed that the Local Area Development Funds would be judiciously utilised to for the developmental and welfare programmes of Assembly Constituencies. In this he urged upon all the political parties irrespective of party colour to work together in implementing the various schemes under LADF for the benefits of the people.
Reiterating that the top priority of the NDPP-led PDA government would be early resolution of the more than seven decades old Naga political issue, Rio said solution of the issue during our tenure would be heartily welcomed as it would bring in peace and progress.
In this, Rio urged upon the Naga people to have together to resolve the issue for a lasting peace in the State which will help towards fully exploring the talent and potential of the State.
Expressing gratitude to the people of Northern Angami-II re-electing him and also the entire Nagas for reposing their faith on his leadership for the fourth consecutive term, Rio asserted that the PDA government would give best efforts towards the welfare of the constituency in particular and the Nagas in general.
Rio said prior to 2003, no regional party had managed to complete full term in office, but he stated that under his leadership the NPF party not only completed full term but also were in power for three consecutive terms.
Acknowledging the support of the people, Rio said winning too many seats also creates problem within the party and therefore NPF winning 38 seats in 2013 elections resulted in differences within the Party with disgruntlement among the MLAs over portfolio distribution. Rio said that his staying for longer duration would create more differences within the NPF, he decided to go to Delhi and work for the cause of the Nagas in bigger arena.
“I did not think that I will return to Nagaland become the Chief Minister again, but with God’s grace and people support, I have become the CM for the fourth time,” he said.
Rio also maintained that despite the internal leadership problem in NPF, which had led to his suspension and expulsion from the Party, he did best for a true reconciliation but in vain and therefore ultimately decided leave it to join NDPP.
Unopposed election of a candidate in the State election was the first time following his election this time, Rio said while promising that he would visit all the villages under his constituency and have interactions with the village leaders to take up need based welfare and development projects.
Nagaland BJP Unit President, Visasolie Lhoungu said that keeping in mind that peace and development is the need of the hour for the Naga people, both the Central and State Government is giving top priority in bringing an amicable and honorable solution to the Naga political issue. He said that Nagaland needs a strong and stable government in order to bring about solution to the issue and that will be possible only under PDA government. He also affirmed that NDPP-BJP alliance would sincerely work towards delivering goods to the people.
Northern Angami Public Organisation President, Neiyalie Pfüsenuo also delivered short speech while ex-MLA and Chairman Nagaland Khadi and Village Industries Board Dr Neiphrezo Keditsu delivered the welcome address.
Beside others, NLA Speaker Vikho-o Yhoshü, Advisors Dr Neikiesalie Nicky Kire and Zale Neikha also attended the programme. (Page News Service)
