Rio acts Pontius Pilat on Naga integration: NPF

Kohima, June 15: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) said Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio is acting “Pontius Pilat” on the issue of Naga integration.
In a rebuttal to Chief Minister Office’s statement, NPF Legislature Party spokesman, Imkong L. Imchen said they have anticipated the denial of the Rio on his statement on Naga integration at New Delhi on June 12 after meeting the Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh.
“Perhaps, we have anticipated such denial even before we issued our statement on 14th June 2018 that, he will deny and refute what he has spoken about the selling out of Naga political destiny. It is in fact perfectly the carbon copy of Pontius Pilat Judgement of Jesus Christ for crucifixion,” Imchen said.
He said the Governor Pilat had given Jesus Christ at the disposal of Jews people knowing fully well that they were going to crucify him in a most cruel way and shown his hand washing infront of the people. “Similarly, Rio has sold out the Nagas destiny by taking the side of the Union Government openly and stating that Naga Integration is not at all possible.
Rio had stated that demand for Naga integration by the people involved in the Naga peace process is not possible,” he claimed.
“Anyway, by saying so he has made known his mind to the Government of India as well as to the Naga people without any reservation,” the NPF leader added
Imchen said NPF is objecting especially because he happened to be the Chief Minister of the day and making such open declaration by an incumbent Chief Minister that is also in the presence of both electronic and print media person in New Delhi and he has served his purpose by betraying the Naga cause with clarity.
The opposition NPF also pointed out that the neither CMO nor Rio had denied or refuted what he had stated about the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016. “He has clearly stated that Art 371(A) of the Constitution of India has given/provided enough protection and safeguard for the Naga people and therefore it is not necessary for him or his government to oppose this impending bill. The issue related to the infamous “Bed rock of Naga Society”, on which he himself resigned from the Cabinet in 2002 Government stating that this “book-let”, has sold out the Naga right and today the same person is championing this infamous Bill so as to pleased his masters in Delhi,” he said.
Stating that the Bengal Frontier Regulation Act 1873 (Inner Line Permit (ILP)) should be uniformly imposed all over Nagaland, including Dimapur, the NPF asserted that endorsing, accepting or supporting the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 in Nagaland does not arise and “we shall oppose steeply regardless of what BJP led PDA Government in Nagaland approve or endorse the said Bill.” (Page News Service)
