Rift in Nagaland BJP: Poster campaign against Secretary (Org)

Kohima, August 5: Rift continues in BJP camp in the state after a group of people launched a poster campaign against one of the central leaders here at the State capital.
But both BJP high command and leaders in the State have dismissed that there is a fissure in the party.
While the Hindu rightwing party has claimed that the BJP is intact, there is a clear visibility of rift in the party for the last couple of months over the leadership crisis.
A group of dissidents launched a poster campaign against the Secretary Organization, BJP Nagaland, Ananta Narayan Mishra accusing him of murdering BJP in the state and asked him to leave the State. He was also accused of being morally corrupt.
“We don’t need dictatorial vendetta, go back,” the poster reads.
The dissidents also asked Mishra not to use divisive and partisan policy in the party.
Lately, Visasolie Lhongu was removed as State Unity president and replaced by BJP Minister, Imna Along; the move a senior party leader said was in preparation for the next year’s country general elections.
But the decision to replace Visasolie also came against the backdrop of a section of senior party leaders who had campaigned to oust him on the ground of inefficiency and lack of leadership quality. The party high command had retained him for a couple of months.
Some of the top functionaries of the State BJP were also sidelined in a similar manner in the past, a source said.
The State general elections were conducted under the leadership of Visasolie and had won 12 seats. He was removed right after the elections, which some of his supporters said was unceremonious and disrespect to the former President.
The saffron party has lodged an FIR in the police station to nab the dissidents who had carried out the poster campaign against Mishra.
Vice President BJP Nagaland State, Kenidezo Peter Rutsa has filed an FIR at the North Police Station, Kohima stating that some people are trying to malign the party image adding that the defamatory posters were found today.
“The BJP Central Office has detected and taken cognizance of a most malicious, dastardly, unruly and character assassination campaign against our respected Shri. Ananta Narayan Mishra GS (Org) BJP Nagaland State Unit,” stated through a release from the party high command, New Delhi. The release said some dejected elements are perpetuating a criminal offence and urged the law enforcing agencies to take necessary action.
The saffron party said Mishra is a patriotic nationalist and humanist and has been tirelessly working for the nation, Naga people and party in the State leaving the comfort zone. “BJP Nagaland sterling success in February 2018 General Elections to a larger extent is because of Narayan Mishra’s contributions as in his grand organizational skill and foresight political strategy, tactics and mass outreach program covering all 60 Assembly Constituencies and 12 districts,” the party high command added.
