Dimapur, June 3: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has slammed the decision of the State Cabinet to send positive patient to various districts and demanded that the decision be revoked immediately. It also demanded revision of the new SOP issued by the Government.
In resolutions adopted unanimously at a joint meeting of the party attended by legislators and party officials at the Dimapur residence of opposition leader TR Zeliang on June 3, the party strongly condemned the decision of the State Government to send off returnees to Tuensang from Kohima, which it said was a disastrous step. The party also termed as unfortunate the overall handling of the matter by the present day Government.
The party also demanded the State Government to provide seeds for crops as the people were not able to cultivate on time due to lockdown throughout the country. Small and marginal businessmen and entrepreneurs must be provided economic stimulus for recovery, it said.
The meeting regretted that despite the vehement opposition by several NGOs including political parties in the State, the Chief Minister who holds the finance portfolio imposed COVID cess on petrol and diesel, which has led to sharp price-rise of all the commodities and thereby increasing the burden of the common men.
The meeting, however, congratulated health workers, village councils, Church bodies, community based organizations and all others who are working in the front lines against COVID-19 in the State.
The party further reassured the people of Nagaland that the NPF will continue to safeguard the interest and well-being of the citizens in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
