Review meet on NEPEx held in districts


Dimapur, April 24: In connection with the direction of Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) Home Department to conduct National Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx) in collaboration with National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to be conducted on April 26, a review meeting of the Longleng District Disaster Management Authority was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, John Tsulise Sangtam in the DC’s conference hall.
The Deputy Commissioner, while welcoming the members present, highlighted about the mega mock exercise. He informed that NEPEx is a state-wide mega mock exercise to test the capability of the Government of Nagaland to respond and to manage any mega impending disaster in the state. He asserted that it is a mock performance of all the government departments under the Disaster Management to be aware of their roles and responsibilities to response and take timely action during disasters and minimize the loss of lives and properties. In this regard he urged all the government officials to be serious and sincere with their respective activities to ensure that mock drill exercise itself should not become a disaster.
After a lengthy discussion it was decided to perform the mega mock exercise in four locations, and requirement of manpower and inventory was framed for the exercise despite of shortage in manpower and machineries. The final briefing of the mega mock drill exercise will be held on April 25 in the DC’s conference hall. In this connection, the DC has directed all the Heads of Offices to be present for the final briefing on April 26.
Zunheboto: The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department is conducting a state wide mega mock exercise NEPEx on April 25&26 to test the Government’s preparedness to respond and manage any mega impending disaster. In this regard, the ADC Zunheboto has directed all the members of the Zunheboto District Disaster Management Authority (ZDDMA) to participate in the table top exercise to be held on April 25 at 11 am in the ADC chamber followed by mock exercise on April 26.
