Restricted drugs seized in Wokha


Dimapur, May 15: Wokha District police along with district administration and medical department led by SDPO Wokha, Imkongsangba Jamir raided a number of pharmacies on May 14 at Wokha town and seized several quantities of “Restricted Drugs” from 7 pharmacies in violation of the Drugs and Cosmetic Act 1940.
Since the seized drugs fall under the category of “restricted drug” (Schedule H) and not “banned drugs,” a joint co-ordination meeting was later held with the proprietors/ owners of the pharmacies and the defaulters were briefed of the rules and regulations of the “Restricted Drugs”. The owners were further directed to maintain all necessary records and stock limits per the Drugs and Cosmetic Act 1940.
Later in the day the seized drugs were destroyed in presence of police, administration and medical department.
