Residents along NL Road unable to purchase essential commodities, medicines

Dimapur, April 19: People living around Nyamo Lotha Road area (from Deluxe Point to Holy Cross junction) are undergoing extreme hardships due to the closure of pharmacies and groceries shops in the area. The people are unable to venture out to purchase food items and medicines due to the extension of the sealing area beyond the quarantine zone.
Talking to Nagaland Page over phone, a resident lamented his plights and narrated the problems they are facing due to sealing of the area.
Residents of Rajbari, near Deluxe Point also reached out to the Control Room set up at Deputy Commissioner’s office and informed them about the non-availability of essential commodities to the people of the area due to sealing of Nyamo Lotha Road and adjacent areas.
A responsible resident of Dimapur commenting on the plights of people of Church Road lamented, “They are depriving people of life saving medicines. Most of the medicines which are only available in pharmacies located in Church Road is not available anywhere. Even people are not allowed to go to Ideal Chemist to buy medicines in Church road due to blockade”.
Meanwhile, police sources said that the area had been sealed as a safety measures because the quarantine zone is located adjacent to the Church road area and people may creep in from the many passages and that is risky.
Deliberating on their plights, the police sources said that necessary measures are being taken up.
When informed about the plight of people in these areas, DCP Zone-I, Dr Naieem Mustafa told Nagaland Page that from tomorrow morning, ration and chemist shops would be opened near the vicinity of the area and people can go out and do necessary shopping. He added that if any family face problems in purchasing ration and medicines, they would be provided by Dimapur police.
