Republican Party of India launched in Nagaland


Dimapur, February 19: National President of Republican Party of India and Union Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment Ramdas Athawale on Tuesday launched RPI (A) in Nagaland. The launching programme was held here at Agri Expo, 4th Mile, Dimapur.
Speaking on the occasion, Athawale called Nagaland an important state in Northeast and assured that in the next Nagaland assembly election the party will be contesting.
He said that the party functions on the philosophy of Dr B R Ambedkar and is in support of the poor, the tribal people and in accordance to the constitution of India and added that he would like to work towards the improvement of the state.
In his brief remark, he said that he is aware of the pending Kohima airport project and he would have meetings with the PMO officials and see that it is sanctioned.
He also said that during his stay in Nagaland, in the past two days he met the Governor of the state P.B. Acharya, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton and discussed with them the various issues of the state. He said he had a talk with the CM regarding the need of industries coming to Nagaland and that he would do his part.
He also officially announced Mughato Aye as the state Party President and expressed that the party would grow under his leadership. Besides the state president, a number of other office bearers were also announced including Diana Swu who was made the women wing president. (Page News Service)
