DIMAPUR, JANUARY 26: The Dimapur district Republic Day celebration was held at DDSC Stadium, Dimapur with Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly Sharingain Longkumer unfurling the National Flag. He delivered the Republic Day speech and inspected the parade contingents.
Greeting the citizens of the state, the Speaker said that the day is a remembrance of all patriots and founding fathers of the nation who made sacrifices and perseverance for making the Republic.
On the Naga Political issue, Longkumer said that in the past few years, the state had seen some crucial developments towards the final solution as the negotiations with all the parties concerned have seen positive breakthroughs. He stated that there is a spirit of understanding among everyone should continue to work in unity and to fulfil the aspirations of our people without any delay overcoming all the obstacles.
He added that an appeal was made to Naga Political Groups urging them to uphold the values of reconciliation and non-violence towards achieving One Solution for One People. He also mentioned that the Chief Minister and the Leader of Opposition have affirmed to continuously work towards a political settlement for the unique history and identity of the people.
He acknowledged the medical and health workers, the police personnel, the SDRF and NDRF teams, the village guards, the sanitation workers of the ULBs, the transport workers, management of quarantines centres, along with all the officers, staff of the district administration, civil society organizations, and other departments for being able to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. He also extended his appreciation to all the developmental partners- WHO, UNICEF, UNDP, World Bank, corporate and philanthropic donors of the State during the situation of COVID-19.
Longkumer stated the recovery percentage of Nagaland’s COVID-19 which now stands over 97 per cent. He also said that the state has started vaccinating more than 19,000 health workers, which is followed by 30,000 other frontline workers and in the third phase it is proposed to vaccinate over 3.4 lakh people of the age of 50 years and above.
He encouraged the citizens to adhere to the COVID-19 measures in the form of wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, hand washing and following all the other guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
The program was followed by inauguration of exhibition stalls by the ‘chief guest’, the DIPR reported.
Keeping in view the National Road Safety month from January 18 to February 17, Dimapur Traffic Police distributed a booklet featuring select sections of the Motor Vehicles (Driving) Regulations, 2017.

Mokokchung: The 72nd Indian Republic Day was celebrated at Mokokchung at Imkongmeren Sports Complex with Minister Higher Education & Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along as the ‘chief guest’, according to the DIPR.
On the occasion, the ‘chief guest’ unfurled the National Flag and delivered the Republic Day speech. He also inspected the march past contingents.
The minister presented awards to government schools for achieving 100% transition of girl child students in primary level and upper primary level in the academic year of 2019-2020.
Phek: Minister for Planning & Co-ordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu was the special guest at the Republic Day celebration at Phek district headquarters.
After unfurling the National Flag, Kronu inspected the parade contingents and felicitated local winners under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. He also delivered the Republic Day speech.
The evening programme was followed by the inter-department penalty shootout, and beating of retreat by DEF, Phek.
Peren: Minister for Soil & Water Conservation, Geology & Mining, V Kashiho Sangtam unfurled the National Flag at the Deputy Commissioner Office Complex in Peren. He also took the Rashtriya Salute from the parade contingents.
To mark the occasion, earlier in the morning, the National Flag was hoisted in all government offices/residences/institutions. Meanwhile, in Jalukie, ADC, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang unfurled the National Flag.
The 72nd Republic Day celebration programme culminated with beating of retreat by District Executive Force (DEF) Peren.
Noklak: Advisor, Prisons, Printing & Stationery Government of Nagaland, H Haiying unfurled the National Flag at local ground, Noklak and took the Rashtriya Salute from the parade contingents.
Haiying, in his Republic Day speech, mentioned that Noklak district was formally inaugurated on January 20, 2021 and it has come to proudly occupy its rightful place as the 12th district of the state. He conveyed his best wishes to Noklak district and its people.
The special guest also visited the stall displaying weapons by A Coy 45 Assam Rifles.
Meanwhile, to mark the occasion, Indian Red Cross Society, Noklak and Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam visited Adora Children’s home, Noklak.
Tuensang: Republic Day was celebrated at parade ground Tuensang with Minister for Public Health Engineering, Jacob Zhimomi unfurling the National Flag. He also delivered the Republic Day speech.
To begin the celebration, all government buildings and business establishments hoisted the National Flag. DIG Range Tuensang conducted the parade review.
District Commendation awards were presented to Eleutheros Christian Society (ECS), Rev Achu Chang ES CBLT, Tuensang Town Baptist Pastors’ Union, Dr. John Shupao Nodal Officer for COVID-19 Tuensang, COVID-19 sample collection and testing team, Mudang Khiamniungan, Asst Professor Sao Chang Government College, Changkhumba GT, Chempilila Sangtam and Mahan Driver ITI Sedam for their ‘outstanding contribution in combating COVID-19 pandemic in Tuensang district’.
Zhimomi also inaugurated the exhibition stall organised by Agri and Allied Departments Tuensang along with BBBP; while Bedi Bachao, Bedi Padhao organized a penalty shootout tournament exclusively for female where 40 teams participated.
Wokha: Advisor Food & Civil Supplies, Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection & Taxes, Phukayi unfurled the National Flag and delivered the customary address at at Wokha local ground.
He also presented district level awards and commendation awards to the following persons: Ajato Odyuo Chowkidar, Mammen EV (So, EE Water resources), L. Chenithung Kikon (UBI-O/C Ralan), Renthungo Ezung (Dobashi Ralan), Longkumonen Pongen (Sub-Inspector), Dr. Mhonchan (Zonal Leprosy Officer), Obed Lotha (Chowkidar), Yanpvu Lotha (Constable-Driver), Erenbeni, Merilo Kikon, Asangla Tungoe, Chumchano Kikon, Julie Jungio, Mhabemo Lotha (Sub-Inspector), Zanthungo Tsopoe (Havildar 7th NAP), Benthungo Ngullie (UDA), healthcare workers OF Ralan and Department of Power, Bhandari.
The Advisor later inaugurated the stalls set up by various departments and Self Help Groups.
Mon: Minister for PWD Housing & Mechanical, Tongpang Ozukum unfurled the National Flag at local ground, Mon town. The event started with the parade review by Superintendent of Police Mon, Imnalensa Ao.
Ozukum’s speech was followed by march past by the contingents.
The event concluded in the evening with prize distribution followed by beating of retreat ceremony by 6th NAP Pipe Band.
Kiphire: Advisor for Technical Education & Election, Medo Yokha unfurled the National Flag and delivered the customary address at Kiphire public ground.
Later the special guest also inaugurated the exhibition stalls set up by the respective departments, which was followed up by visitation of SBI, Kiphire-Shalom children home, NSCB, Kiphire District Hospital and IRCS, Kiphire Branch, District jail Kiphire.
The National Flag was hoisted in all government offices and educational institutions. The programme ended with the beating of retreat by the DEF, Kiphire.
Longleng: Minister for Rural Development, Metsubo Jamir unfurled the National Flag at public ground, Longleng.
In his republic day speech, Jamir highlighted various achievements, activities, policies and programs of the Government agencies.
The special guest also acknowledged the tireless and selfless efforts of all the medical professionals and health workers, frontline workers, Police personnel, the SDRF & NDRF team, the Village Guards, sanitation & transport workers, district administration and other departments and all the churches and civil organizations for coming together to confront and deal with a global calamity in the form of COVID-19 pandemic.
Zunheboto: Minister of Transport and Land Resource, Paiwang Konyak unfurled the National Flag at Zunheboto public ground at 9 am.
Highlights of the programme include march past by four parade contingents. After the customary speech, awards were given to various VDBs (24 VDBs in total) under different blocks in Zunheboto, who have implemented MORD and state programme satisfactorily as well as maintaining the VDBs assets properly during 2019-2020 and 2020-2021.
The programme culminated with beating of the retreat by 32 Assam Rifles Zunheboto. The programme was conducted following strict standard operating procedures (SOP).
