Kohima, May 25: The newly renovated Rüziedzükhou (traditional well) at T Khel, Kohima village was inaugurated today by Chairman of Tsütuonuomia Thinuo Council, Thepfuvilie Suohu.
Located opposite Ura Academy, the Rüziedzükhou has traditionally been a source of water while Kenei Peli-9 (peer group) of T Khel initiated the renovation of the well but and also transformed it into a park which is open to all.
In his brief address, T Khel council Chairman, Suohu lauded the initiative of the Kenei Peli-9 members which comprises of 63 male and 73 female members in renovating the traditional well. He said it should be an example for other peer groups initiate public utility services.
He said that the Rüziedzükhou is one of the most sacred wells amongst seven traditional well within T. Khel with no restriction of drawing water from this well.
In a wake of the shortage of water supply in Kohima, Suohu stressed on the need to renovate the other existing traditional wells as well in and around Kohima village.
Renovation Committee convenor Khrietuo Belho informed that the renovation works was completed at the cost of Rs. 10 lakh.
Chaired by K. Neibou Sekhose the inaugural function commenced with prayer by Rev. Kevimese Suohu while Ketuoravi-ü Solo presented a special number.
Kelhousinyü Solo delivered welcome address and Thepfuzakie Suohu tendered vote of thanks. (Page News Service)
