Relief distributed to landslide affected families in Kohima


Dimapur, August 9: Relief materials were distributed to landslides affected families at Peraciezie and Pezielietse colonies in Kohima by members of Peoples Democratic Alliance led by its convenor, Chingwang Konyak on Wednesday.
The objective of the initiative was not only to distribute relief materials to the affected families or individuals but also to ascertain the actual problems faced by the people due to unprecedented natural calamities such as landslides and collapse of retaining walls owing to incessant rains for the last few days, said Adviser to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Abu Metha.
In addition to that, he said the idea of distributing relief materials is being carried out at the landslides affected places in order to ensure that Government assistance percolates down to the grassroots level.
The administration, police, disaster management agency, army and para military forces have been actively helping the public to the best of its efforts for the last few days, he said. He also asked the colony members to maintain records of damages and submit to their respective chairmen for onward submission to administration or concerned authority. As of now Rs 2800 is given to the affected families or individuals as immediate relief by the Government, he informed.
Relief materials were handed over to the colonies in the presence of ADC Kohima, Lithrongla T. Rutsa and SDPO (N) Kohima, Ketoukhrielie Metha. The team also visited landslides areas at Peraciezie and Pezielietse.
