Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, MAY 9: Nagaland Government is currently in the process of regularising the services of 269 work-charge employees in Public Health Engineering Department (PHED).
The State Government’s Advocate, K Angami submitted this information to the Kohima Bench of Guahati High Court during a hearing held on Tuesday.
“Heard Mr. K Angami, learned Senior Government Advocate appearing for the State of Nagaland, has submitted that the present Interlocutory Application has been filed praying for extension of time which was granted to the Government for complying with the order dated November 1, 2022 passed by this Court in WP(C)/76/2020 whereby the Government was directed to regularise the services of the respondent (the petitioner in WP(C)/76/2020) within a period of reasonable time but not later than a period of three months from the date of passing the order.
“The said period of three months has already expired on February 31, 2023; however, Mr. Angami submits that the Government is already in the process of regularising the services of the respondent including 269 other similarly placed work-charged employees”, stated an order issued by Justice Mridul Kumar Kalita.
According to the Government’s Counsel, the process of regularisation involves four stages: clearance from the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department, Finance Department, Manpower Rationalization Committee and finally Cabinet approval “which needs reasonable time”.
“In view of the submissions made by the learned Counsel for both the sides as well as the materials available on record, further time of six months from the date of this order is granted to the Government for complying with the order dated November 1, 2022 passed by this Court in WP(C)/76(K)/2020”, the order stated.
