Record-breaking Sanjeev Rajput shoots gold in men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions

Gold Coast, April 14: India shooter Sanjeev Rajput created a new Commonwealth Games record on Saturday, laying claim to the gold medal in men’s 50m Rifle 3 positions in Gold Coast [Australia]. Sanjeev shot a Games record of 454.4 to finish at the top ahead of Grzegorz Sych [448.4] of Canada and Dean Bale [441.2] of England at the Belmont Shooting Centre.
The other Indian in the fray, Chain Singh, finished fourth. Both the Indians entered the final after securing a top-two finish in the qualification round with Sanjeev at top followed by Chain. However, it was Sanjeev who continued his exemplary form in the summit clash as well to give India its 19th gold of the CWG 2018. (TNN)
