RCD starts Rotary Skill Academy

Dimapur, June 18: Rotary Club of Dimapur under its Women Empowerment programme, started today a Rotary Skill Academy to impart vocational training to Women & girls. The Academy was jointly inaugurated by Club’s Senior members namely Rtn B L Khetawat, Rtn U S Agarwalla, Rtn Dr. B L Agarwalla & Rtn Surinder Anand at Rotary Centre , Midland, Dimapur in the presence of Club members & Guests.
Rtn Pradip Kumar Jain, Project Chairman in his welcome speech spoke about the need for such skill academy in the community.
Club President Dr Nitin Agarwalla spoke about the aims & objectives of Academy which is to train women so that they can earn a decent livelihood after training. At present the academy will impart tailoring training to women but gradually other skill training will also be provided.
The training is free of cost at present. Around 15 Nos of women have already enrolled for the basic tailoring course of the Academy under the guidance of Gouri Roy, teacher at the Academy.
Rtn Chandu Agarwalla, Rtn Lucy Akokla also spoke on the occasion & exhorted the trainees to make full use of facilities for skill development. Rtn Surinder Anand delivered the vote of thanks. (Page News Service)
