DIMAPUR, JANUARY 14: Governor RN Ravi and Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton have greeted the Chakhesang community on the occasion of Sökrönye festival.
In a message issued on Thursday, the governor stated that the essence of Sökrönye is sanctification of the Chakhesang community.
“Rituals involved are meant to purify the souls, and the children also learn the rich spiritual and cultural practices. Let us celebrate this beautiful festival observing all Covid-19 protocols. On this significant occasion, may God bless you all with good health, happiness and a prosperous life,” he said.
A separate message from Patton read: “On this festive season, let us explore the possibilities of bringing oneness and unity amongst brothers and sisters to make the festivals more memorable and meaningful.”
On behalf of the State BJP legislators, Patton extended greetings to the Chakhesang community as well as Yimchunger, whose Tsungkamneo festival falls on January 16, and Kuki, whose Mimkut falls on January 17. (Page News Service)
