Ranji Trophy: Sumit Kumar’s 158 takes Nagaland to 342

Dimapur, February 3: Guest player Sumit Kumar struck 158 in 179 balls to help Nagaland recover from early jolts and post a first innings total of 342 on the second day of a Ranji Trophy match against Arunachal Pradesh at Nagaland Cricket Stadium Sovima on Saturday.
A press release informed that after reeling at 28 for 2 and trailing by 98 runs on Day 1, Nagaland mounted a comeback led by Sumit Kumar, with contributions from Sedezhalie Rupreo (53), Tahmeed Rahman (23), Khrievitso Kense (19), Jaganath (19) and Jonathan (18).
Shekar Sihori took 3 wickets for Arunachal bowling. Bad lights forced play to be called off with Dorin batting on 21 and Kumar Nyompu on 8. At stumps, Arunachal trailed by 188.
“On Day 3, Nagaland will be looking to bowl out the Arunachal side and try to avail the bonus points and also keep a close watch on the Meghalaya versus Sikkim match happening at SICA ground Sikkim as their hopes of qualifying to the playoffs hangs on a thread”, it stated.
