Ranji Trophy: Nagaland heading for innings defeat


Dimapur, February 14: Nagaland is heading for an innings defeat against Pondicherry with the visitor trailing by 219 runs with only 4 wickets in hand at stumps on Day-3 at SLIMS Cricket Ground, Puducherry.
After declaring their first innings at 625/8, taking a 449 first innings lead, the host put Nagaland to bat and at the end of play had reduced Nagaland in its 2nd Innings to 230/7 in 59 overs.
Pondicherry had earlier dismissed Nagaland for 176 on Day-1.
On Pondicherry’s 625/8 declared, PK Dogra top scored with 175 and S Karthik made 98. For Nagaland, SS Mundhe took 3 wickets.
In its 230/7 second innings score, Jonathan made 86 and Stuart Binny scored 43.
Col C K Nayudu Trophy
In the Col C K Nayudu Trophy 2019-20, Odisha bowled out Nagaland for 193 in 56.2 overs and were 25 without loss at stumps on Day-1 here at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima.
Put in to bat by Orissa, Nagaland first innings total could have been far worse if not for a valiant 90 by Nikhil who kept his cool as wickets tumbled at the other end.
For Odisha, Preet K Singh claimed a fifer while Tapas and Saurabh took 2 wickets each.
State women’s team
Meanwhile Nagaland senior women team is leaving on Saturday for the 1-day tournament of Plate Group to be held at Pondicherry from February 18 to March 11.
The under 19 Nagaland girls team is also leaving on Saturday via Gauhati to Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh for the Plate Group 1-day matches from February 19 to March 12. (Page News Service)
