Ranji Trophy: Nagaland, Bihar settles for draw

Dimapur, January 22: The Ranji Trophy match between Nagaland and Bihar ended in a draw after a valiant fight back by Nagaland on the final day to save the match at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima.
Needing 278 runs to make Bihar bat again, Nagaland batsmen led from the front by skipper Jonathan Rongsen with an unbeaten double century stayed resolutely at the crease to save the match with good support from SS Mundhe (94 runs) and Stuart Binny (81 runs). Umpires called off the match when Nagaland were 444/4, a 101 runs lead.
Earlier after bowling Nagaland out for a paltry 166 on Day-1 of the match, Bihar had declared their innings at 509/7 after 2 days of play was curtailed by bad light. Two Bihar batsmen had scored centuries in their first inning – Rahmat Ullah (106) and Vikash (103), while Babul made 95, Rathour – 81 and Ashutosh – 51.
With the draw, Bihar gets 3 points in view of their first innings lead while Nagaland settled for one point.
Col C K Nayudu Trophy
In the Col C K Nayudu Trophy (2019-20), Meghalaya were 31/1 in its second innings at stumps on Day-2 still trailing Nagaland by 138 runs at Kandukuri Cricket Academy, Vizag.
Earlier Nagaland were bowled out for 324 in their first inning, taking a 169 runs lead after bowling out Mizoram cheaply for 155 in their first inning.
For Nagaland, Vivek scored 119, while Nikhil missed his century by 2 runs. Wahid also contributed 51. For Mizoram, Lalruatfela and Muanzuala claimed 3 wickets each.
