Dimapur, March 2: The 67th Raising Day of Nagaland Village Guards was held on March 1 at VG museum-cum-memorial hall, Pangsha in Noklak district on the theme ‘the guardian of the frontier villages’.
Deputy Commissioner & Ex-Officio Commandant, NVG, Noklak Arikumba, speaking on the occasion as guest of honour, mentioned that Nagaland Village Guards are playing an important role in the region in maintaining law and order in the villages with the collaboration of district administration.
In controlling the anti-social elements in the villages, VGs are the one who work tirelessly for the betterment of the villages, he said.
The DC requested them to maintain peace and tranquillity for the progress of the villages.
Commandant NVG, Tuensang Mongkoyanchu, in his short speech, briefed how the Village Guard was established at Pangsha in the year 1957 and advised the Village Guards to perform their duties sincerely.
Dy. Commandant, NVG, Kiphire Wanmei Konyak spoke on how the Village Guards protect the villages and was assisting the district administration in maintaining peace and security in the region. During the event, Yanthong who is the only surviving VG pioneer, was felicitated.
