Quarterly meet of DDMA held


Dimapur, April 7: First quarterly meeting of Dimapur District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA)was held today in the conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner Dimapur.
In the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Sushil Kumar Patel (IAS) informed the departments for early submission of the filled in format for India Disaster Resource (IDR) so that it can be updated in the system.
He also advised specially the PWD, power, KMC and other line departments for strengthening their disaster management plans as pre monsoon preparedness.
Further he asked the medical department to take necessary preventive measures for controlling mosquito population.
Sushil informed that Nagaland Emergency Preparedness exercise would be conducted on April 26 and requested all the department’s to be prepared for the same.
ADC Dimapur Sara Jamir reminded all departments to be prepared with the onset of monsoon season. She advised the DMC for cleaning up the drainages and also to ensure that sufficient provisions are kept for road within the colonies while giving construction permits, stating that in some colonies it was difficult even for fire brigade to pass through during disasters.
Sara further requested all the departments to update their disaster management plan and also to keep updating the available machineries.
The ADC while pointing out that many cases of disaster taking place in Dimapur even recently are due to short circuits, advised the power department to create awareness amongst the public for proper usage of power.
District Disaster Management officer Dimapur, Rendemo, informed that TOTs will train the village level volunteers on Community First Responder from next month in all the 6 Sub divisions under Dimapur district.
On updation of District Disaster Management Plan, Rendemo informed that the plan will be prepared making reference to the departmental disaster management plan and therefore requested all the departments to take the matter into consideration. The meeting was attended by all DDMA members including Police and para military force.
