PwDs advised to take COVID vaccine

DIMAPUR, MARCH 2: Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in the age bracket of 45-59 years who fall under the eligible categories of the second phase of coronavirus vaccination have been encouraged to receive the dose.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Diethono Nakhro, stated that the list of co-morbidities eligible for receiving vaccination includes: blood disorders like Sickle Cell Disease and Thalassemia, people with multiple disabilities, including blindness and deafness, acid attack where respiratory tract involvement is there, muscular dystrophy, intellectual disabilities and disabled requiring high support needs (severe disabilities).
The department of Health and Family Welfare has informed that one can self-register through cowin.gov.in or register onsite along with a Photo ID, she stated, adding that vaccines will be provided free of cost at all government facilities.
“In this regard, NGOs, churches, and concerned citizens in the various districts are also requested to kindly help eligible persons with disabilities register and get the vaccination,” she appealed. (Page News Service)
