PWD Secretary gets final chance to comply with HC order

DIMAPUR, JULY 10: The Kohima Bench of Gauhati High Court has given one last chance to the Secretary of PWD Kesonyu Yhome to comply with the Court’s order issued in April 2022 to consider the service regularisation of an employee of the Department.
“By the order dated April 13, 2022, passed by this Court in WP(C)/65/2022, the writ petition was disposed of with a direction to the respondents to consider the regularisation of the petitioner’s service within a period of 1 (one) month from the date of receipt of the Court’s order. However, due to non-compliance of the order dated April 13, 2022, passed by this Court in WP(C)/65/2022, the present contempt petition has been filed”, stated an order issued by Justice Kakheto Sema on July 9.
The contempt petition was filed by Merenkala, a work-charged Sectional Assistant in the office of Executive Engineer PWD (R&B), Feeder Road Division of Tuli, Mokokchung.
On June 18, the Court issued an order granting three weeks’ time to the respondents to comply with its order with the additional directive to file an affidavit of compliance of the Court’s order.
“Consequent to the passing of the order dated June 18, 2024, in the present contempt petition, the respondent No. 1 (Secretary) has filed the affidavit dated July 2, 2024. On perusal of the affidavit filed by the respondent No. 1, it appears that nothing has been stated as regards the compliance of the order dated June 18, 2024.
“A last chance is given to the respondent No. 1 to comply with the order dated April 13, 2022 passed in WP(C)/65/2022 and also the order dated June 18, 2024 passed in the present contempt petition, failing which this Court shall be constrained to pass necessary orders against the respondents including notice of contempt. List it after 6 (six) weeks”, stated the order.
