PWC observes 27th Annual Day

Dimapur, September 27: Pranabananda Women’s College, Dimapur today observed its 27th Annual Day cum Freshers’ Social in the college premise with Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University Prof. Pardesi Lal as the chief guest and DC Dimapur, Sushil Kumar Patel as the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Pardesi said that since the independence of the country, India has made much progress in the educational sector and the number of universities has risen from 27 in 1947 to 816 today. Similarly, the number of colleges in the country during the same period has risen from 578 to more than 40,000.
He said that since Independence much emphasis has been given on the educational sector by the Indian government, yet today the country needs quality education as the progress of the country depends on the leaders it has and the quality of leaders depend on the quality of education they receive.
He said that due to lack of quality education India has been at the bottom of many indexes like the Global Development Index, Global Hunger Index, and Global Innovation Index and it has become mandatory for the country to equip the students with quality education that would serve the society eventually.
He asked the students to register themselves in different websites and take up courses that don’t depend on the remoteness of the state.
He stated that the university has been making efforts to transform the educational sector of Nagaland to bring it at par with the international standards as asked the colleges to keep pace with the university. He also advised the students to be innovative in their approach towards problems and not let any circumstance lose their heart.
Previously, DC Dimapur Sushil Kumar in his speech had said that it is time for the students to enjoy their life as well as make plans for their future and if they plan and give their hundred percent, they can be anything they want.
During the ceremony, musician Arenla Subong of Abiogenesis was felicitated as per the annual custom of PWC in which the college felicitates one influential woman from the Naga society who contributed immensely towards the society.
Receiving the award, Arenla asked the students to follow their hearts and remember that they are second to none. She advised them that they should be God fearing and focused to be successful.
Principal of Pranab Vidhyapity Hr. Sec. School Manoj Bhattacharjee, principal of Unity College Dr. S.K. Chhabra, Chinmayanandaji Maharaj of Bharat Sevashram Sanghs were the others who spoke on the occasion. Principal of PWC Uma Bhowmick gave the welcome speech.
