Dimapur, July 1: The Indigenious Naga (TIN) has appealed to the Government of Nagaland to bring Dimapur district under the coverage of Inner Line Permit (ILP).
There is a dire need for the authority to check and stop the increasing influx of illegal immigrants into Dimapur district through proper checking system, said a statement issued by the media cell, TIN.
TIN alleged that influx of immigrants is increasing day by day due to the negligence of the Government and feared that a tsunami is on the horizon with no proper checking system to address then influx. “More IBI will get into our state after the NRC Act final list which will be soon declared in Assam. The people of Nagaland and the Nagaland Government need to act together now to check this problem before its too late or do we be lackadaisical and insensitive to blame each other later,” it asked.
If the influx is not check then within a span of few years the population of Naga locals here will become minority and the IBI population will be the majority in Dimapur like in Tripura, it stated, adding Dimapur being the gateway to different districts in Nagaland and with the increasing influx of IBIs the whole State will be affected too.
“There is a must for the government to implant ILP so the policy and law will be a weapon to defend our indigenous identity,” it said.
TIN urged the State Government to set up the main ILP office in Dimapur and nodal units in all district of the State. It also supported NTC demand for a revision of the NSTZ (Nagaland Special development Zone Bill) as it is affecting the special protective laws of Nagaland.
TIN further requested all Naga tribal hohos, various Naga organizations/unions, village council, youth organizations, NGOs to jointly help each other in tackling the IBI menace and save our land and Naga identity. (Page News Service)
