Public, returnees will not be charged for COVID-19 test: Govt clarifies


Dimapur, July 24: The Department of Health & Family Welfare has clarified that there is no charge for COVID-19 testing as reported in the local dailies on Friday.
Reacting to the order issued by the Medical Superintendent of COVID-19 Hospital Dimapur, Dr Z Kheshito Zhimo, the Principal Director, H&FW, clarified that the SOP the MS was referring to is not for returnees or general public requiring COVID-19 testing but specified for special categories of non-resident people who need to enter Nagaland for a short duration for urgent essential work or for unavoidable reasons.
These are skilled labourers, mechanics, technicians, engineers etc who need to enter the State for short duration for providing their services for maintenance/repair/ constructions etc for essential/ emergency services like power, telecom, transport, upkeep of medical equipments/labs etc or for some other unavoidable reasons.
“Also this SOP is for government servants who need to enter the State and immediately start performing duties,” said the Principal Director.
The PD said this special category lof people whose services are urgently required but may be deterred to enter the State by 14 days of facility quarantine and 14 days of home quarantine requirement are being facilitated by this special SOP.
“Only this group of people will be charged Rs 1500 per TrueNat test. Again, within this category, those who are on official Government duty will be exempted from the testing charge,” he clarified. (Page News Service)
