Dimapur, July 30: The state Government has issued an advisory to the people due to landslide on the upstream of Sidzu river above Chakhabama-Pfutsero bridge and an artificial dam has been formed and posing threat to safety of life and properties on the downstream.
Secretary Home Department, Rovilato Mor has directed Deputy Commissioner and Chairman DDSMA to issue high alert to residents of Sidzu/Doyang river and farmers, vehicular passengers to avoid the river banks on the downstream.
The Extra Assistant Commissioner Kezocha has also issued an advisory to the people not to venture out around Sidzu river.
The Kezoma Village Council and Gaonburas have also been directed to issue warnings to strictly prohibit the villagers from venturing into that area as well and vacate any residents if any.
Meanwhile, a weather forecast said that moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm and moderate lightning is likely to occur in many places over Phek, Tuensang (Noklak), Kiphire, Wokha (Bhandari), Kohima, Zunheboto, Mokokchung and Longleng on July 31.
In the wake of extreme weather conditions, the public have been advised to refrain from going to vulnerable spots like landslide prone areas and also avoid movement and overnight stay beside river banks.
