Dimapur, May 2: Two kutcha houses and properties worth Rs 10 lakhs were destroyed in a fire incident at Chumukedima on May 1. Altogether 24 families (Labourers) were affected.
According to Fire & Emergency Services, on receiving fire call at 8.21 p.m. yesterday at 7th Mile Mhasud Stone Crusher, Chumukedima, they mobilized a quick response team from Fire Station Chumoukedima. Fire Personnel reached the incident site at 8:44 p.m. due to deplorable road from Fire Station to National Highway which also added to the difficulty, for which it took 21 minutes to reached the incident site which is 8 km from the Fire Station.
Three Fire Tenders along with sufficient equipments and Fire Personnel were rushed to the spot and contain the fire within 40 minutes.
Two Kutcha houses were completely razed down during the inferno, which were used as Labourer’s Shelter. Property worth 10 Lakhs approximately was lost in the fire incident. However timely intervention of fire personnel managed to put fire under control and prevented from further spreading to adjoining areas.
The cause of fire is due to short circuit. Altogether 24 families (Labourer’s) were affected. No casualty was reported. The response team was led by Duty Commander S.I Kenyuyhun Kent and ASI Thangpong Khiamniungan. (Page News Service)
