
Dimapur, October 17: A programme for Dr HR Lotha Meritorious Award was held at Wokha Village Baptist Church (WVBC) on Sunday.
A special devotional service was conducted to fete the successful candidates of Class 10 and 12.
On the occasion, Dr HR Lotha Annual Meritorious Award for Class 10 students of Wokha Village was handed over by Mhabeni, daughter of the deceased doctor.
HR Lotha was the first MBBS doctor and the first gazette officer from Wokha Village. His family has constituted the annual award to encourage the students of Wokha Village.
He had passed away on November 20, 1995 while serving as Civil Surgeon (now known as CMO).
Mhabeni extended gratitude to the members of Wokha Village for helping her father financially while studying MBBS in Bangalore.
She said that a meritorious award in the name of her father was to encourage and motivate the students of Wokha Village and to help them bring laurel to the village.
She urged the students to work hard and dedicate themselves in their assigned duties.
She also appreciated the church, government employees’ union and council of Wokha Village for acknowledging the meritorious students, and later handed over a certificate and cash amount of Rs 7,000 to Chumreno Z Erie, the winner of the award.
The Wokha Village Baptist Church also awarded a citation to Erie. (Page News Service)
