Prime accused in Nagaland cop’s murder  arrested from Guwahati

Dimapur, September 16: Prime accused in the murder of Inspector Neiphretuo Metsie-o of Nagaland Armed Police, Yurreingam Ronra Shimray alias Thangmeingam (24 yrs), s/o Starson R Shimray of Kharasom Lazo village was arrested today by Railway Protection Force (RPF), GRP and Assam police from Guwahati at around 7 p.m.
The accused had boarded the Dibrugarh-Rangia express train 15928 at Dimapur Railway Station today at 12.10 p.m. and reached Guwahati at around 6.30 p.m.
According to sources, the presence of the accused in the said train was relayed to the Assam counterparts and with the approval of Divisional Railway Manager, Lumding, the train was regulated in the yard before reaching Guwahati Railway Station for 15 minutes.
A team under IPF, New Guwahati was moved to the yard and intense checking of the train from both sides was done with having observers on both sides at 6 p.m.
On seeing this, the suspect jumped out of train and moved into the adjacent colony. The observers and other staff noticed him and chased him. Having no way to go, the suspect moved into a building. Immediately, the building was cordoned from all sides.
Since it was a civil area, local police were called in and after sometime, seeing no way to escape from the spot the suspect came down from the building and he was taken into custody.
Nagaland Police were accordingly intimated. The suspect would be legally handed over to Nagaland Police on their arrival.
With this arrest all the two accused in the FIR No. 0 Dated 15/9/18 U/S 302/392/201/202/34 IPC Kohima North PS have been arrested.
Earlier, one of the suspected accused was arrested by Kohima North Police today at Ukhrul Police Reserve Lie. The accused has been identified as Ringthingchon Lungharwo (21 yrs), daughter of Luiham L of Lunghar village. (Page News Service)
